Tree Felling β What You Need to Know
Tree felling is the complete removal of a tree, either by felling it in one piece where space allows, or by sectional dismantling β removing the tree piece by piece from the top down β in confined or complex situations.
We carry out tree felling for a wide range of reasons: trees that have died or are in serious decline, trees that have been damaged beyond recovery, ash trees affected by ash dieback, trees causing structural damage to buildings or drainage, trees that are simply in the wrong place for a garden design or development project, and trees removed as part of site clearance for construction.
Before any felling takes place, we check whether the tree is subject to a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or located within a conservation area β both require consent or notification before work can legally begin. We handle this process on your behalf.
- Full TPO and conservation area check before quoting
- All required applications or notifications submitted on your behalf
- Controlled felling or sectional dismantling as the site requires
- All timber, brash and arisings removed or chipped on site
- Stump ground out to below ground level if required β see stump grinding
- Site left clean and clear on completion
π Timing: Winter (NovemberβFebruary) is often the most practical time to fell β outside the nesting season and usually better for availability. Our seasonal tree care calendar covers what to consider when planning tree removal. π From the blog: 7 signs a tree needs removing Β· how much does tree surgery cost in Hampshire?
